Jim Wallhead out of UFC Gdansk fight with Warlley Alves

Warlley Alves needs a new opponent for UFC Gdansk.

Initially booked to meet Jim Wallhead at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland, the Brazilian welterweight has been left without an opponent as Wallhead has officially pulled out of the card. MMA Fighting confirmed the news following a report of an injury by MMA Junkie.

Alves (10-2) is looking to snap a two-fight losing skid with decision defeats to Kamaru Usmanand Bryan Barberena. Alves had a 4-0 start in the promotion, which includeed winning the The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil as a middleweight in 2014.

Wallhead (29-11) was set to enter the Octagon for the third time after suffering back-to-back losses to Luan Chagas and Jessin Ayari. “Judo” competed for promotions like Bellator, Cage Warriors, BAMMA and KSW before joining the UFC in 2016.

UFC Gdansk takes place at the Ergo Arena in Poland on Oct. 21, and features a welterweight clash between Donald Cerrone and Darren Till in the main event.
