Prepare for this super sweet gesture from a legion of baseball fans to warm your heart.

Ryan Merritt – the Cleveland Indians’ rookie pitcher – smashed everyone’s expectations on Wednesday by pitching 4 1-3 scoreless innings against the Toronto Blue Jays and helped the Indians win and advance to the World Series for the first time since 1997.

And the fans decided they just couldn’t let that performance go unrewarded – so they tracked down Merritt and his fiancee Sarah’s wedding list and proceeded to send him many of the items on there.

So many gifts were sent, in fact, that the 24-year-old joked that there won’t be enough left for his friends to buy.

Oh and if you’re free and happen to be in Minnesota on January 27 next year, you might even get to pop along on their special day. He has no plans to extend his guest list, but said “if more people want to come, I guess they can come. I don’t care who shows up”.

We’re thinking he might regret that.
