Torres felt unfairly accused and portrayed by Liverpool by departing to Chalsea.

Torres has been a favorite among the fans after 102 league appearances, scoring a total of 65 goals for Liverpool. He moved to Chalsea during 2011 for a record breaking fee of £50m.

He explains his feeling and how this all happened in Simon Hughes’ new book. Despite having huge success at Liverpool,  Torres is worried with the direction Liverpool is heading, especially when there is potential takeover for the club during summer 0f 2010.

His key concern is that Chalsea might opt to sell the key players – including himself- , and was frustrated by the club’s action of selling Javier Mascherano to Barcelona after that.

Liverpool was sold to Fenway Sports Group in Octover 2010 and appointed Damien Comolli as director the following month.

Torres left for Chalsea despite a great success that time.

Torres said that: “I was told by Comolli that the new owners (FSG) have an idea on how to spend their investment. They wanted to build something new by bring in the young players, but I was thinking to myself that this could take a long time to work. It might be two, three, four, or maybe even ten years.”

“I simply do not have that time. I am already 27 years old and I did not have the time to wait and I wanted to win. Today, five years later, they are still in the same position in the league when I left.”

Torres said he felt betrayed after the news of him “verbally requested” a transfer leaked to the club, and once everybody knows about it, “it was portrayed as if I was the traitor. Liverpool simply cannot admit they are doing something wrong with the team, and they have to find a guilty one, who happens to be me.”
