Antonio Conte will hope to leave the national side on a high before heading off to manage Chelsea

Outgoing Italy manager Antonio Conte watched on as his players trained ahead of their final warm up game with Finland next Monday.

Having agreed to take charge of Premier League side Chelsea at the start of next season, the former Juventus manager – who took over the reigns of the national side in 2014, will be hoping to leave on a high this summer.

The Azzurri boasted a number of recognisable faces in Florence on Wednesday, including veteran World Cup winning pair Daniele De Rossi and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and while they may not be the team to beat in France, they have plenty of experience and unity to make them formidable, as they look to go one better than their runners-up spot four years ago.

PSG star man Marco Verratti will be missing from midfield after suffering a groin injury and Riccardo Montolivo has failed to recover to take his place on the plane, making the task that much harder in a group containing Belgium, Sweden and Republic of Ireland.

A guarantee with the Italians, will always be their effortless, easy-on-the-eye style and they proved once again they know how to dress for the big occasion.

Posing for a traditional team photo, the 2006 World Cup winners were first seen in their trademark blue and white kit, before switching into classy navy suits.

One man who will be keeping an eye, is countryman and new Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti – a former international, who spent much of his managerial career in Italy before moving to England.

Having won the domestic double during his time at Stamford Bridge, the 56-year-old was ruthlessly shown the door following a trophy-less campaign in 2011 and has backed his old clubs’ decision to bring on board Conte.

Speaking to FourFourTwo he said: ‘Conte is a hard worker: really serious, really professional and always focused on his job.

‘Chelsea are getting a top manager who will look at all the little details,’ the new Bayern Munich manager added.

‘Coming to England from Italy, he will find a different world: less pressure, no violence, a great atmosphere, full stadiums – just totally different from Italy at this moment. He can definitely be a success at Chelsea.’
