Tai Tuivasa didn’t waste much time getting his first UFC win. And he’s not wasting much time getting back into the Octagon, either.
Tuivasa will take on Cyril Asker at UFC 211 on Feb. 11 in Perth, Western Australia, the UFC announced Monday night. Tuivasa, nicknamed “Bam Bam,” is a top heavyweight prospect from Sydney.
Tuivasa (6-0) made a huge splash in his UFC debut, finishing Rashad Coulter with a devastating flying knee at 4:35 of the first round last month at UFC Sydney. The Aussie-Samoan has won all six of his career fights by knockout and none have come out of the first round. Tuivasa, at 24 years old, is one of the most exciting up and comers in the heavyweight division.
Asker (9-3) is coming off a second-round submission win over Yaozong Hu at UFC Shanghai last month. The French fighter has gone 2-2 thus far in the UFC. Asker, 31, is a former Extreme Fighting Championship (South Africa) heavyweight champion.
UFC 221 will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Robert Whittakerand former champ Luke Rockhold. Also on the card, Mark Hunt will return to face Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight content.
