Barb Honchak had a tough loss Friday night and now it might be a bit before she’s able to return to the Octagon.
The former Invicta FC women’s flyweight champion is facing a six-month medical suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), per a document obtained Monday by MMA Fighting. Honchak might have broken her right hand in a split decision loss to Lauren Murphyat the TUF 26 Finale in Las Vegas. If an X-ray comes back positive, Honchak will be suspended from competition until May 31, 2018.
Honchak (10-3) made her return on The Ultimate Fighter this past season after three years away from the sport. She held the Invicta title for parts of two years and was one of the favorites to win the inaugural UFC flyweight belt. Nicco Montaño ended up beating Honchak in the semifinals and defeating Roxanne Modafferi for the belt Friday night.
Sean O’Malley is also facing a six-month suspension. He needs to get his left foot and left hand X-rayed. If either come back positive, O’Malley will be out until May 31, 2018. O’Malley defeated Terrion Ware at the TUF 26 Finale.
Ariel Beck, who fell by second-round TKO to Shana Dobson, must have her left wrist X-rayed. If it comes back positive, Beck will be medically suspended for six months. Same for Melinda Fabian, if an X-ray comes back positive on her left thumb.
The TUF 26 Finale took place Dec. 1 at Park Theater in Las Vegas, Nev. The night’s main card aired live on FOX Sports 1.
