Steven Gerrard is considering his next career move after his contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy was not renewed.
Here are some of his potential options for where he could go next…
Liverpool
Manager Jurgen Klopp has already said Gerrard is “always welcome” back at the club but any return would be in an off-field role.
Gerrard is taking his coaching badges and may see his former club as the ideal place to start a new chapter.
Celtic
Speculation has already linked Gerrard with a reunion with former boss Brendan Rodgers, a man whom the midfielder once said he wished had managed him earlier in his career.
Their last season at Liverpool together was not the happiest for the player as he was left out of some major games but he could be tempted by one last swansong and extend his playing days in Scotland.
China
The Chinese Super League would certainly be attractive from a financial point of view but it seems highly unlikely Gerrard would be tempted.
He struggled to adapt to the long-distance travel in America – a country which spoke his language – and he will not want to take his young family to the Far East.
TV
He has already cut his teeth in punditry with BT Sport, making a number of transatlantic flights to be involved with their Champions League coverage.
It would be the most comfortable of all the options but it has never been Gerrard’s style to take the easy route.
