Juventus’s centre-back Leonardo Bonucci was Manchester City’s main transfer target, and while he did tempted to join, he believe that he was right to stay in Italy.

The Italian international admitted that the idea of able to team up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City alone made him consider leaving Juventus during the transfer window.

He is heavily linked with a move to Manchester City for 2016/17 campaign, with Man City making €50 million offer for him.

In the end the 29 years-old choose to stay with Juventus but he admits that he is intrigued by City’s offer.

“I did give it some thought. Guardiola is on that team and that did destabilised me a little. I did not spoke to Pep directly on this, it was just a thought between me and my agent. It was tempting, but i decided to follow my heart and stay in the end.”

“I opted to stay here at a great team with bigger objectives. I want to end that project which started 2010 in the best way possible. We are in talks with other clubs but the most beautiful thing for me is that how Juventus have shown me I am very important for the club.”

“This motivated me to keep improving with the team and always give my 110% to the team.”

Bonucci is currently contracted to Juventus until June 2020.
