Spain has just named Julen Lopetegui as their new coach.

The 49 years old was a former goalkeeper in Barcelona who won one International cup for Spain in 1994 and coached for Spain’s Under-19, Under-20, and Under-21 teams.

Lopetegui replaces Vicente del Bosque, 65, who announced last year that he would be retiring after next Euro Cup.

Del Bosque is in charge of the Spain national side in 2008 and guided them to victory at both the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.

He offered to resign after Spain exit at the group stage during 2014 World Cup, but was convinced to stay.

At Euro 2016, Spain reached the last 16, but were eliminated at that stage as they 2-0 to Italy.
