As Rio Olympics will be unveiled in less than 3 weeks, questions remain whether Russian athletics will be able to join.

Doping scandals on Russia National Team has gathered the attention from US, Canada, Spain, Japan and almost 10 other countries’ anti-doping agency, and 20 sport groups plan to pressure Thomas Bach of IOC on 18th (Monday) for a blanket ban on Russian athletics to join the Rio Olympics happening next month.

Russia government has been accused of allowing their athletics to dope for a better performance in Sochi 2014, which leads to investigation from World Anti-Doping Agency who will be revealing the findings on Monday.

World Anti-Doping Agency has officially shown support for US & Canada’s action which found to be “shocking” by Russian Officers.

Canadian Lawyer Richard McLaren who is one of the investigator says that solid evidence points to Russia Sports Department is involved in instructing anti-doping officers not to present positive result of doping. Russia and US’s anti-doping agency believe that there will be enough evidence to press charge.

US  Anti-Doping Agency believe that blanket ban on the whole Russia rather than track and field team only.

A joint letter between USADA and CCES towards Olympics board says that Olympic should stand strong to the belief moving forward, as such, in line with the rules and policies, Olympics community should ban athletics from Russia to participate in Rio Olympic 2016 as well as Paralympics.

Russia has been traditionally winners of many category in Olympics and if the ban next week is real, it will undoubtedly cause a great impact on the World sport community.
